Why do you use baltic birch rather than other solid woods or plywood's?

We use 9ply baltic birch for its strength and resistance to moisture degeneration. Birch trees in the baltic regions have small limbs compared to birch trees in the Americas. This small limb leaves a small foot print on the overall composition of the wood. When the baltic birch is made into a plywood, by gluing thin layers together, this small foot print or void is desirable in solid lamination. Baltic birch has been used by Surfboard. Snow Ski, and Skate Board manufacturers for years because of its ability to take extreme punishment, less degree of de-lamination, and tensile strength. Plus, as a side benefit: We save American trees.

Why do you use a vinyl coated bottom rather than a baltic birch or other wood bottom?

Appearance and ease of cleaning. The white bottom gives the kitchen pull out shelves a clean look and the vinyl can be cleaned with a damp cloth with no wood grain raise. If we had a wood clear coated bottom, moisture would eventually destroy the surface as your canned goods, appliances, and cooking utensils would leave small scratches in the clear coat which would lead to moisture access.

What is the advantage of dadoing the bottom into the sides?

We dadoe the bottoms for strength. By cutting a 1/4" groove into the sidewalls, inserting and gluing the bottoms into this groove, it ties the whole kitchen pullout shelves together. Also, on kitchen rollouts 24" and larger, it allows an area underneath of the bottom to add a strengthening  board to lessen sagging. We have seen kitchen pull outs that use a 1/4" board that is surface mounted to the bottom and over the years, this bottom will sag. Also, if you surface mount the bottom, you have to attach the glides with screws in front the bottom rather than from the side. When this screw is inserted into the bottom, it splits the ply's apart on the sidewalls unless you drill pilot holes ( which no one does)

Isn't dovetail joinery more desirable for kitchen roll out shelving?

Dovetail joinery is a strong method of joining the sidewalls together and gives excellent front to back pulling strength. But dovetail joinery has limitations on side to side strength. If your assembling dresser drawers that will have only the pressure of a pair of socks or t-shirts against the sides, it works great. A rabbet joint (which we use) along with a dadoed in bottom gives us the desired side to side strength and the front to back pulling strength at less cost.

Are these kitchen pullout shelves difficult to install?

If we were to rate the installation of our kitchen rollout shelves with a degree of difficulty and the icon was a hammer. These kitchen roll outs would be a 1 1/2 hammer in degree of difficulty. The first Kitchen Slide out Shelf that you install will usually take the longest, then you will see how easy it is to install these kitchen pull outs. And with our mounting hardware the installation is even simpler. We have an installation page here to help you along the way also. It may seem very involved because of all the wording, but when its condensed down to the actual installation application, you'll be amazed at simple it actually is.

How long before I can expect to receive my kitchen pull outs?

Because your kitchen pull outs shelves are custom made for you it takes a little longer to receive than a prefabricated kitchen roll out shelf. You can normally expect your new kitchen pull out shelving to be constructed within 2-3 weeks of ordering them. Then depending on where you live, it will be 2-7 days for the shipping time. We will not bill your credit card until the actual construction of your kitchen sliding shelves begins. On large orders of 30 shelves or more we can usually save shipping costs by pallet shipping
