Making the most out of pantry storage
Pantry storage is critical if you desire not to be running to the grocery store on a daily basis. But there are pitfalls that come with most pantry cabinets.
Pantry Cabinets are made to hold lots of items and these items come in different heights and widths. This presents a problem in organizing a pantry cabinet properly. The heavier items are usually the tallest but if you put these items in the back of the cabinet so you can still view the smaller items, the problem with this is lifting these taller heavier items over the ones in front.
The solution to pantry cabinet shelves is slide out pantry shelves with slanted sidewalls. The taller backs of these shelves prevent items from tipping off the shelf when it is rolled out of the cabinets and allows easier access to the taller items when the shelf is fully extended.
Some contractors or aftermarket companies will install shelves that slide inside of a pantry cabinet that are only 2 3/8″ tall, this shelves inside depth is only 1 3/4″ , definetly not deep enough for a pantry cabinet. We have customers call us asking what can be done to prevent stacked items from tipping off the shelves when rolled out, besides replacing the shelves with taller sidewalls or slanted sidewalls, there is not much that can be done.
